im building a new computer for my son. he is a gaming person. games are wow, cod, BF2, unrealtournament, farcry, fear, and some older games, like G&C, total war,.

Though right off the bat: Ditch the Raidmax PSU since its of really low quality.
 
Yea lines are fubar'd but the names are all the correct newegg names..

Overall, the build is not great at all.. Overpriced case ram cpu. Video is way underpowered for the games being played & the PSU is basically junk.. As danny said answer the stickied questions & we can get you a proper build list going.

get win 7 x64 for sure, very few if any issues driver wise compared to x86, and its the same price....
 
How about Hard drive? & is win7 to be included in the budget or no?
 
added hard drive. if windows 7 can be then great. if we get a better computer then we will add windows 7 to the end. might be better to add to the end of budget. fix links also

I'm sorry, I don't understand the answer: Is Windows 7 part of that $600 budget or not? Or is it part of a separate budget? Or are you adding another $100 to that $600 budget to cover the costs of Windows 7?

Also, any chances of him playing newer games such as COD:BO or BFBC2?
 
sorry for the confusion. total budget with windows 7 is 700. can not go past that.im sure he will be playing newer games a cod and BFBC2, not sure what BO game is.

Yes and no. However considering your budget, an Intel setup is out of the question.

Key notes:
- At that low of a resolution, a strong CPU is really needed. In addition, BFBC2 and COD:BO are fairly CPU heavy as well.
- That Samsung F3 1TB drive is faster than the WD5000AAKS drive.
- That Antec PSU is of far far better quality than the Raidmax PSU.
- That Coolermaster case is roomier and cools just as well as the Antec 300.
- That Asus mobo is of better quality than that Biostar mobo.
 
yes, at the resolution he currently has. That 19" monitor is not very demanding, he should be able to max out cod:bo. If he upgrades to a 22" or larger he would be pushing the gpu and may have to turn down some of the graphics settings.
 
i would like to say thank you to all that helped with this new system. we got it built and its awsome. i may have to build me one also...hehehe
