I'm getting ready to start my new build and I am lacking on my current case knowledge. Here is what I am looking for, plus a few questions. Thank you for the help...

I'm looking for a case that has filters on the input fans, as I am sick of cleaning my computer every month. I like the Silverstone cases, but not sure of the difference between the raven and FT cases, except that they look different externally. Right now I have an Antec 900, and its old and dusty. I don't really have a preference for size small/large, but I do like how most modern cases hide the cables behind the motherboard tray. A hole where the cpu sits would be nice as well, so I could easily change out cpu coolers without removing the motherboard, (because I am not current on coolers either so will test out a few of them).

Essentially I like the pictures of the raven/FT cases, but was wondering what the difference is between the two, and if they are worth it? Can you keep them clean?

As far as cooling performance and noise output, the rv02/ft02/rv02-e are virtually identical and excellent at both aspects. The dust filtering is as good as anything else currently made, so keeping them clean should be cake although a couple guys have improved on this even further with the DEMCi magnetic stuff. Check the [H] ft02 thread for more ideas.

Check these links for solid reviews of each case:

Outside of external appearances and price, the main differences between them are that the ft02 holds 5 hdds and has only 7 pci expansion slots versus the rv02's 3 hdds and 8 pci slots. There's also the newer update to the Raven 2 called the rv02-E. This case incorporates the hdd cage from the ft02 into the rv02 chassis so you can pack in 5 hdds while also giving up a single pci slot. To toss even more options into the mix, the upcoming rv03 (do a forum search for more info) doesn't have a release date yet, but might be popping up soon.

Something else that may or may not matter to you is that these cases don't have USB 3.0 yet, although Silverstone's forum rep said a replacement cable should be released soon. If all you need is room for 3 hdds, the rv02 goes on sale about every 2-4 months for around ~$130 or so.

Lian Li x-500 cases are nice. I have one for sale mint, in retail box with all the accesories that came with it.
