New build...Allendale?

The difference in perfromance between those two at default clock rates will never be noticed so save some money and get the E4300.

Don't make overclocking sound so bad. A quick bios adjustment or two and the folks could have E6700 power for the price of an E4300. :D

I don't know where you live, but Fry's Electronics here in the Bay Area sells an E4300 + ECS mobo for $99.

And why would a mild overclock bother his parents? Stock volts, up the fsb a little, done. Next.

It boggles my mind that some people's parents play MMO's, but regardless, there's no point to overclock to play WoW as it will run fine at stock. Since they won't get anything out of it, it saves them a little power too. I can't speak for Age of Conan since it has not been released. If they were interested in Folding or helping cure cancer however, I'd recommend as fast a processor as possible :)

Find a strap modded E4300@FSB266. I'm sure some stores sell those with full warranty. No need to OC or touch anything, just plug it in.

I typically don't overclock others people's machines when I build them. Not unless they ask for it. So I would get them the slightly better performing stock processor and call it a day.

I have my e4300 @ 366x9 1.4Vcore.

Best bang for the buck....EVER!

And i have used nothing but AMD for the last 6 years.

nothing like a 1.5Ghz overclock
