I was so impressed with the folding performance of the i3 vs Q6600 (roughly even, sometimes a hair less) not to mention the low heat and power draw that I've decided to retire the trusty old Q6600 in favor of something new. Came into a few more bux (wish I woulda known BEFORE buying the i3) and nabbed an i5 3570K and ASUS P8Z77V-LK for $329. Gonna scavenge 8GB DDR3 from my X6 (it will run at 1600, just not on an OC'd Thuban) and I have a Hyper 212 avail for cooling if need be. I'm obviously going to OC it but am interested in keeping the temps reasonable as my only minor quibble with the Q6600 is the massive heat it gives off while OC'd. What kinda temps are the i5 folders out there seeing? I was thinking of a 4.0 - 4.5 GHz OC and from what I've read this is easily attainable. The primary purposes will be folding/gaming/torrent and I want this machine to last a good long time so I'm not interested in any batshit OC's that will drastically shorten the life of the CPU. Am a few days away from startup as I have to back up a pile of files in prep for alot of rig-swapping and an SSD cloning or two, and I've got an overniter planned out of town tomorrow so weigh in with your experience or opinions plz and I'll slap it all together soon. P.S. I'll do a barebones rebuild on the Q6600 and fold on it until sold ...
