I've got another machine that I would like to fold on, but I'm not sure what to do with it.

It's a P4 3g, 1g ram with an X1950pro 256m AGP on Vista Home Premium.
I know I can fold on the 1950, but can I fold on the cpu at the same time? I've never used the gpu client, and I'm not sure exactly how that works.

So, what should I do?

Thanks in advance....

Fold on the GPU.. Dont fold on the CPU as it isnt Dual core and the GPU client takes a core to run

It's red .....red makes me happy:)

And thanks for the info.. I appreciate it...

Edit... well, I just read that, and it just doesn't seem right, now does it.... meh...

I heard some rumors that sometimes Americans refer to the lower female genitalia as ``box''. For example, my freshman year roommate made a comment that he likes ``box munching''. This referred to his enjoyment of orally satisfying a woman.

Wow. Drizzt's reply after Moose's was just really, really funny. Also true.

You are all amazing. Derail the thread on the second reply.

I say fold on the gpu if you can tolerate it. The gpu will produce more ppd, and do more scientific work than the cpu would. Just run the gpu client since it needs the whole cpu.

A woman;) ....I think the rumors may be true.. but what do I know:p

When you say "if I can tolerate it"... what, exactly do you mean? Is there a downside to folding on a gpu? If it will produce more ppd, it would seem that this would be the way to go.. What are the negatives?

Heat and noise, GPUs suck up more power and typically make more noise then their CPU brethren when folding. The worst of them are the 1900XTXs with their vacuum cleaner heatsinks. The X1950s are generally quieter, although I've never seen the AGP version.

It's the Visiontek version, and the hsf is not at all similar to the PCIe variants..

Appreciate the info, and if noise and heat are the only annoyances I think I'll be fine.. this machine is loud as it is... nothing like 6 cheap ass 80mm fans....
