Well my previous pair of headphones broke and I figured why not replace them with a decent pair when I get my next paycheck. I'd like to see what this high quality sound thing is all about. I'm having a really hard time imagining sound can get much different then it is now lol.
I'm not too fond of the gaming headsets like the Steelsound and Siberia's because I feel the mic is kinda gimmicky. I guess I like my headphones to be headphones and my mic to be a mic.
Looking through some of the other threads I saw the HD 595s mentioned alot. However at 89.00 the ATH-A500's seem like a great alternative. Either way, are these headphones a good choice? I'd be using them primarily for music-movies gaming-with the possibility of adding an amp for them later on. I was looking at them since I'm kinda a bass junkie. I really like breaks and dnb but I listen to all types of music.
Finally, whatever pair of decent headphones I end up with, what does the "burning in" process mean. Do I need to listen to all different types of music or just use them normally? About how long does the process take? With all of you audiophiles, do you worry about hearing damage..are there any sites where I could learn to enjoy audio safely? I'm not sure if head-fi has a section on that..the forums there were down when I went.
THANKS!
ps-ill post back when i get something decent to let you all know if my opinion has been changed
