Here is my new "Point of No Return" piece, let me know what you think of it please.

I like it but feel it would be improved if the x-shaped plant/grass things did not look the same, or perhaps were not there at all.

I second james' observation about the repetitive shape of the plans being a distraction and add one additional comment. The sky and background all have a yellow tinge to them yet the foreground is done in bright, vibrant hues with no hint of any tint. If there was a bit more of a transition it would not seem so out of place in my view.

Other than those nitpicks it is very tight.

There not plants at all. They are warning symbols, haven't you guys ever seen "Planet of the Apes"?

......;) Also about the foreground , the reason why it is not tinted like the rest of the background and is a solid color is because, your looking over a ridge down into a valley where the ruined city stands the yellow hazy look is suppose to give you a feeling of distance.

Agreed. I'd personally like to see the picture with them taken out completely and the foreground darkened just a tad. I think the redish dirt of the foreground is a bit too bright. More of a contrast against the bright sky would make the photo more dynamic and emotional.

I gave the dirt a more brownish look, personally I do like it better.

A new one I have been working on, entitled "The Beckoning" Inspired by the movie "Signs"

Thanks, I like it better also now that I can compare the two.

I like the change. About the warning signs, they were too small to easily see what they were. If there was one closer in the foreground to highlight its meaning then it would fit perfectly.

Nice desolate scape with good atmospherics. My only nitpick is there is no real focus. If that was your plan then it succeeded. :)

The journey picture would make a nice background.

@ Panzer, thanks for commenting. I see what your saying about the absence of focus. Originally I hadn't thought about that much, I just wanted to create a landscape and show off its desolate magnitude. I suppose some of the inspiration came from the book "The Road", or even Lawrence of Arabia.

@ Addicted, yeah , it works pretty well at 1680x1050 , head over to http://krenum.deviantart.com/ to get it.

Point of No Return reminds me of Fallout 3's Wasteland. The bit when the Lone Wanderer/Vault 101 Dweller leaves Vault 101.

I don't like the vegetation in the first scene because it looks like it was painted in Photoshop or like you duplicated the same "grass blade" model all over the place. It could use more variation in terms of the size of the object and rotation. Also, the grass doesn't seem to cast any shadows so it looks slapped on.

The last image is simplistic but it looks very nice.
