Ok, so its a watercooled, 3.4 EE on a 775 mobo with 1GB of DDR2 533, with an X800 XT..... BUT $5,558!!! give me a freakin break.

I could build a computer with all those parts, plus an integrated blow job giver (13 y/o asian girl imported from phillipines) for less than that. :)

B/c the first thing I thought is.... "Does that come with a BJ? cause it better for that price."

The sad thing is. They wouldnt be able to have pricing like that unless someone was actually buying them....

they are actually pretty popular. alot of kids going off to college with rich parents are getting the alien ware systems (both desktops and laptops)

i could never even IMAGINE paying that much for a computer... EVER.

but i guess if you can afford it why the hell not :rolleyes:

I think I'm going to re-mortgage my house and buy a computer. Yea that alienware one.

if you had the money and no time to build your own i would understand.... but anyone that saves up for that is el stupido...

Wow if I were going to college and my folks wanted to buy me that, I would calmly suggest they just hand me the $5500 and call it even :)

I priced out a high end dually opteron rig yesterday for high end gaming/workstation at $6500 and that was for just the box :D

The normal alienwares are one thing. I could see people spending around $2000 for a nice system in a pretty case, with a fancy paint job. But $5558!?

I would like to see their COGS breakdown for that. (cost of good sold)
COGS = $2558 ?
profit = $3000
------------------------
PRICE = $5558

Ok so im really bored at work and im not so good with math but I think I got it! 5 million dollars a hour for labor!!!

Does anyone have a coupon code I can use....

I'm not sure whats worse? Automated alienware techsupport or dell's indian tech support. I mean I just spent 6 grand on your overpriced steaming pile of shit and now I have to listen to a computer tell me whats wrong with my $6000 waste of cash? :cool:

Couldn't resist.

Just needs to be in Antec style case. I wonder if they still offer it.

dude its not a piece of shit its just expensive com'on now it has water cooling, and pci-express with the fastest cpu on the market u gotta like that.

$5500 for a computer system?

gee, and here I thought that Mac systems were over-hyped, over-ratted and over-priced machines. :D

I would get an fx53 over an intel EE any day, but the pcie is kewl. The water cooling is probably a "some assembly required" nightmare.

:confused:
Why does she have to be 13? :eek: Hope your not showing a little closet pedoph...........well, we wont go there.........I'll just assume you were kidding.

BTW: I wont ever buy an off the shelf again. "Made in my shop" all the way baby!

She's got to be 13 so she can fit under my desk. Plus thats the age where a daughter is sold off (in to slavery/prostitution) if needed. I've only bought 3 phillipino girls and have them working in my house as "maids" with a work visa. (j/k! ;) probably another bad joke... I might get funny-0, jackass-2 LOL! )

that was so bad i think you just gave me cancer.

Wow, is that what it costs to get raped these days? Only $5,558 with a $700 1gb memory upgrade?

Why on earth do people keep buying these? Even if you had the money to buy it you could order all the parts yourself and pay some guy $100 an hour to build it and still save a shit load of money...

people with more money then sense...

First it's kinda funny but also Insulting too. Some readers here are Filipino gotta think first b4 postin somethin like that...

Someone I know bought an Alienware. I think it cost him $2800 shipped earlier this year. Nice huge purple case with some lights. Specs are (from memory):

3.2C
512MB RAM
120GB HDD
FX5700
17" NEC flat CRT monitor

I think he gets just over 3000 3DMark 2003. First time I met him was at one of the weekly LAN gaming events I do. We made so much fun of him that I felt bad about it afterwards, and was afraid that we had lost another LAN gaming buddy. After 3 weeks he showed up again, and now can laugh about it. In fact he often uses "Alienware" as his gaming handle these days. He told us that when he bought it he knew he wanted a gaming system and didn't want an "off the shelf" mass market system, and he wasn't given good advice.

Hrrrmph, $2800 for an FX5700 (not even Ultra) and a CRT monitor? Some "gaming" system. Still, this keeps gamers away from HP/Compaq/Emachines, so guess Alienware isn't all that bad for those who don't build their own (or know anyone who does).

I dont understand how it could possibely cost that much? The Specs arnt that good looking..... for 5 grand, i would at least expect to see some SCSI Raid goin on...

not only that, but think about the system yo could build with 3 grand, and 2 grand on MODs, and vapor chill... (not premods, but Homebrew goodness)

Mabey it comes with $3,000 worth of tools to M0D it into a cool case....(hey! ill bet thats why they made it so ugly)

well with that money you can simply buy the best.. 4xscsi raid0, nvidia's SLI (2cards), 1gb ram..water cooling..and probably still have money left over

meh, dont knock crts i love my sun 21" even if it takes someone on each corner to carry it :p

I wonder how much the one with the dual video cards is going to cost.

i think i may buy one of their cases off of ebay... then build the computer myself and sell it at the discounted price of $4500 or so... ;)
