Well, I got this fancy new card today and it is pretty badass.

FEAR at maximum settings:

Very quiet at an idle. At load, all you hear is turbulent air. My PC quieted down so much from my old 9800Pro.

So far it has taken everyting I've given it and I am extremely excited about that.

I do have a couple questions though.

What can I use to see GPU temps?

Should I remove the HSF and apply AS% to both the RAM and GPU or should I leave the stock stuff on there?

Nvidia's drivers let you see the temperature.
It depends on who the maker of your card is, if removing the HSF voids the warranty. eVGA allows you to do this with no problems.

It is an eVGA, I forgot to mention that.

However, I do not see where the temperature is reported... I looked all through the nVidia Control panel, but to no avail...

I've heard of this problem too. My friend with a XFX 7900GT doesn't get any temp sensors for the memory, just the core. It's weird.

My 7800 GS OC is the same way
:(

I SpeedFan is the GPU temp the one labeled as "Core"?

I thought I would be able to tell, but it seems too cool to be the GPU. Its at 32*C... Seems to cool...

In Speedfan "Core" should be your CPU...

There's no "Temperature Settings" tab under the Nvidia control panel (not the crappy new Catalyst control center ripoff).

Ah, I didn't realize you could switch back to classic view. That makes me happy. I found the temps too. 40*C at an idle. Needs some AS5. :D

Thanks for the help.

Another question I had though. When I Overclocked, There was an option for PCI sync or PCI ASync. I chose ASync so that the PCI frequncy did not increase as I increased the CPU frequency. It this what I should have done or should it be synchornized?

I didn't want to OC anything but the CPU which is why I did this, but I'm not sure if it was the correct thing to do. Your thoughts?

^^ you won't find temp sensors for the ram, only the core temp is displayed.

40C is normal operating idle temp.

40C is normal? is this CPU or GPU? Cause I can only dream of a day where my GPU idles less than 50C...

with adequate case cooling and possibly a side intake fan, 40 is the norm that i've experienced for many different video cards. that is until i got this 7950gx2 hah

But...I have front 120mm intake, side 80mm intake, and 120mm rear exhaust...it's 29 degrees ceclius in the case...how much more does one need?? ...maybe I shouldnt have asked that :p

What kind of overclocking results have you guys got?

My EVGA 7900GS KO: 595/860.

And perfectly stable in 3DMark06. Pretty crappy result though, I need to get it over 600.. ;D

Temps:
Idle: 47-48c
Load: 55-56c

i'm afraid to try anything that high until i get an aftermarket cooler...any recommendations?

Holy crap! I installed 92.91 drivers and the results:

596/912

Damn, I had no idea the memory would overclock that much! :O
