new 7900 gt - problem prevention?

I got my 7900 gt on the egg about a month ago - still about a month to go until build. I was planning on flashing new bios for the card after the build and running a zalman vf-900 on it. I am wondering if - with the problems occuring on the 7900 - should I spend time doing anything to the card at all or just flashing the bios - or nothing until I find out what the card is going to do? Anyone had luck with new bios/cooling keeping their cards running well? Thanks for any info! - DC
 
I would run the card for about a month, spec it out and see how it runs before changing anything. It would be a shame to void your warrenty before you even install the card, especially if it doesn't work to start with.
