I have always been a NV guy.... Switching to ati today... Is there anything i should do to help the transition? Do i need to remove nv drivers? Should i put the ati ccc software in first and boost it up to a % before i even turn it on ? Are there different drivers i should get?-- I have seen alot talking about the 8.8 drivers..

Anything else i should know? Don't want to put it in and fry it or do something stupid then have the guys on here say--- "oh you should have made sure to do this" .. lol
 
Yes you so need to remove drivers.

First uninstall all Nvidia software/control panels, then remove the driver for the card through device manager, then download driver cleaner pro, install, open, select Nvidia, then click remove/clean.

Turn off computer, remove nvidia card, Install X2, turn on computer and install CCC + Driver.

I wouldn't try the 8.8 Betas unless your current driver from disk gives you problems.

Download ExpermATI tool to control Fan speeds.

Don't forget PSU cabability and GPU power connectors. A lot of cards / PSU's don't come with the right connectors / adapters (6 pin and 8 pin I believe for that type of card).
 
You must absolutely clean your PC with holy water before installing your new ATI video card!!! ;)

On a serious note.. I am considering upgrading to a 4870x2 from 2x4850's and was wondering what I would have to do since I am rather noob at this sort of stuff.
 
Say 10 Hail Mary's, have a priest bless with holy water and repeat "The power of Christ compels thee!" Be sure to stand back and away from any open windows at this point as it can get pretty messy.

Uninstall nV drivers, then driver clean and you should be good to go.

Remember to throw some holy water into your liquid cooling setup for maximum christ-empowered overclocks.
