If i bought a new barton 2500+ from Newegg for 88 bucks, will it be locked?
I've heard speculation that these were now coming unlockable.

I currently have a 1900+ at 2.0ghz on water. (10x200). I've had it now for a little over a year and a half, and just figured its about time to upgrade. And what better time than now with 2500s at 88 bucks. But i sure as heck dont wanna go down in speed from the upgrade.

I highly doubt it, but if this is true, I will be a disgruntled man, as my chip is locked. So for my sake, I hope it is locked. I might break something otherwise.

they are unlockable, sure, but you have to cut some bridges on the chip, and then use software (once you get into windows) to bump up the multiplier... it's a fairly new development, but i haven't heard anything besides that so far... link?
