Anyone order a new 2007FP recently? Wondering what the chances are that I'll get the IPS model...

Isn't that the outdated resolution of 1600x1200 ? That size is done, over with, no more, I am sorry to say. 1680x1050res took over

Just like 1920x1200res will be gone soon enough, they will push 1920x1080res as the new standard

Fuck that shit, I am so sick of 16:9 monitors they are gay, where is the love for 16:10 widescreen ? 1920x1080res totally blows for gaming and web browsing, compared to 1200 res height. And 1600x1200 is a million times better resolution than 1680x1050, I mean WTF is up with monitor makers now a days ?

Oh no... don't make this thread into a resolution/ratio war!

Dude, 1920x1200 has the same aspect ratio as 1680x1050. 1600x1200 is 4:3 aspect ratio aka NOT widescreen. What are you rambling about?

Are you ten? 16:9 is fine, they just need to start making higher res 16:9 screens. Also 1680x1050 > 1600x1200 for gaming, I would rather be missing a few pixels than revert back to 4:3.

Exactly how gay are they? :p

Poor OP.. 7 replies and still not response about whether he is likely to get an IPS screen or not. There's still a market for 4:3 high res screens, - so I'm going to presume he knows what he needs and not comment about aspect ratio. I bought my 2007wfp a few years ago and got an IPS - last I'd read it was still a panel lottery for the 2007 models - not sure what recent purchasers got.

I just purchased a Dell 2007FP a month ago that was built in Mexico and had the "L" at the end of the serial number. It was manufactured there in August of this year 2009. Also it had REV 05 on the same label.

This would indicate that it is an LG Phillips panel and is IPS.

Further to this, after looking into the menu by pressing "menu" and "plus sign +" at the same time when powering up the lcd and then letting go and pressing the "minus sign -" afterwards produced this code - HN210.

HN210 indicates that it is an IPS panel. That was my second confirmation.

My third is that it gives off a purple hue when viewing total black screen from a side angle.

I too had apprehensions about what panel I was to receive and was prepared to send it back if it was a Samsung S-PVA panel until getting IPS LG panel but fortunately I was relieved that I did not have to do this on my first try.

The only thing is it took 3 weeks to get it delivered in Toronto, Canada.

Other than that I am a proud owner of an IPS 2007FP and now I am pondering if I should try for a second display. What I have seen on various forums is that after 2008 all 2007FPs are IPS. I hope this is true.

Im going for my second one, we will see.

Good luck and go ahead and order one, you won't be dissapointed if you get the LG panel which is IPS.

*some of the responses in this thread have nothing to do with OP questions so hopefully those will get deleted as it has nothing to do with the question at hand.

I agree the 2007FP looks like an awesome display, just too bad that resolution 1600x1200 is outdated now. To me that is way better than the crappy 1680x1050, who decided to change that is a douche  1200 vertical res is way better for websites over 1050res.

Actually I think three 2007FP's in Eyefinity would be bad ass, because the panels would look sharp and have nice viewing angles, the 1200 vertical height is tall which is good, and 1600 wide x 3 of them would not bring the computer games down to it's knees like 3 - 1920x1200res would. You just need to buy the Active Display adapter and your all set for triple screen gaming.

2 x 2007FP in tandem is perfect for my particular needs as long as they are both IPS.

It's about time Dell drops Samsung's S-PVA like a bad habit for that particular model.
