Just came across my RSS reader at work.

An anonymous reader writes "Looks like Atari has just announced Neverwinter Nights 2, to be developed by Obsidian Entertainment, the same ex-Black Isle folks who are making Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic 2 in conjunction with BioWare. However, it's 'scheduled for release in 2006', so we've got a while to wait." A post on the Obsidian forums has a single piece of concept art, and it's confirmed that "[Original developers] BioWare will provide tools, technology, and game assets from the original Neverwinter Nights as well as lend creative input and oversight to the development process."

Slashdot was the source :)

Better be a new engine, the current one cant even do Z access.

even if this is true it will prob be crushed by bioware's new rpg Dragon age based on their own ip

edit: wow, that was unexpected, and bioware denied nwn2 up and down forever. But I'm still putting dibs on Dragon Age.

No. Bioware denied that *THEY* were doing NWN2. They also said that Atari might have NWN2 in the works, but if it were being done, it would be done by another company. Apparently, Atari got the rights to the title, so they could do a sequel if desired. Expect soon to see a Baldur's Gate 3 announcement, too. Atari owns rights to that name as well, and has said in the past that this was being worked on. Really, this is something of a non-announcement to a lot of people.
