I've desided that I really need a small low power system to do just daily stuff on, and I'm talking like... grandma's daily stuff... surf this forum, check e-mail (MS Outlook).


Reason I need it is, I think my system uses up too much electricity and puts out WAY too much heat (P2 940, 2x 4870 1GB in Crossfire +other stuff)
when I game I game a LOT... but it's usually in spurts.

I know the celeron is a single, but I was really trying to get the coolest, lowest power system going...

I'm might be willing to upgrade on the CPU I know the 1500 is cheap and 65W but only if you seriously think it can't handle what I wanna do...


oh ya, 250GB 7200 seagate? or a 60GB OCZ Core Series SSD? (I have both not going to buy a HDD)

budget is as low as possible (house, car, utilities... kinda more important)

I am running the e6300 and Zotac 9300 de and I am amazed at the performance I am getting for such a small machine. I would highly recommend the Zotac but that is a great price on the Intel board.

As for your hard drives - I would use both ;) ssd for os; 250 Gb for storage. But if you can't use both you may want to use the 250gb imho 60gb gets filled way too quickly.

The RAM is a great choice and the case is a good choice, too.

A lot of people like that Apex case and you should be able to find a lot of good tips on putting your system together. Do a search here on Hardforums and definately check out silentpcreview - they did an excellent review of the Apex mi-008 and there is a lot of info there. Some people add a 120mm case fan; flip over the power supply to reduce heat; some people have had to temporarily remove the psu to fit the stock heat sink in. Just do a little research and you will be fine.

All that will work. You can go with mATX which is a little bit bigger and get more power for around the same price. I see no problems with this though.
 
I was reading online about the case apperently there is clearance issues because the PSU is so close to the board... anyone have any good low profile cooler recommendations? even the lower profile stock sink of intel's won't fit.
 
well since i already have another pc space is becoming limited so i figured small as possible. i was even looking at the cooler master with the mounting system and try to mount it under my desk.


maybe a mATX slim case would work better? i know i can get a matx board cheaper then the itx
