need some help setting up a network with this products.

d-link di-624 wireless router.
d-link di 704p switch/printer server

i am interesting of making a network but dont know how to set it up.
the printer that will be hook up to the printer server is deskjet 610cl

thanks

plug printer into printer port on printserver, connect prinserver via ethernet cable into router. connect desktops via calbe to router. Disable wireless. done.

And if you have wireless clients, enable wireless right back. Or disregard the suggestion to disable it alltogether. ;)

Since you have a wireless router it's probably safe to assume you want wireless connectivity.

i want to keep my wireless connection..

so if i get this set up the right way..i dont have to keep a computer on to print something..right??

Correct. Although your print server device is also a NAT router so you'll need to bypass the WAN/Internet port on the 704P, assign it an IP on your existing local network, and turn off it's DHCP server. That is if you want to use your original router.

:confused:

this is the set up i want.

cable modem-->di-704p-->di-624

i will be hooking my two computer to the di-704p.

but i still nee the wireless for my psp. ;)

Make sure you secure your wireless with WPA or the new WEP (or is it WPA, can't remember). WEP by itself is about as secure as a 5 year old guarding Fort Nox.

ok, gogo 1337 ascii drawing:

Code:
[Cable modem] -- [(Wan port) di-624 (LAN port) ] --- [(LAN port) di 704p]
[color=#333333][Cable modem] -- [(Wan port) [/color](LAN port(s))
[color=#333333][Cable modem] -- [(Wan port) (LAN[/color]|
[color=#333333][Cable modem] -- [(Wan port) (LAN[/color]|
[color=#333333][Cable modem] -- [(Wan [/color][up to 3 wired Computers]

To avoid any confusion what drizzt81 means is switched or LAN port when he references ethernet port. The WAN port is also an ethernet port.

So the modem to the first router WAN/Internet port, then attach the second router with an ethernet patch cable to the second router. That would be a switch to switch or LAN port to LAN port connection. All of the connections being ethernet.
