network problemo....

ok here's the low-down... have hispeed here...

router's ip is 10.10.10.20
login into my hi-speed module is 169.254.1.1

I will go to a machine and type in 'ping google.com' and watch it go... it will ping good for a bit then it will say request timed out... problem is THIS... when it does this it also logs in VERY slowly(if at all) to m router OR my module... soon as the pinging starts going through again... then my login speeds incease also... this does NOT seem to affect computer logon's, network browsing or speeds... any ideas guys??

1) What's a hi-speed module? Do you mean modem? Cable, dsl?
2) What do you mean, log in? What's logging in to your router? How are you trying to log in to your modem (?) ?
