Network Ports - ESXi

Hey all.

I'm going to try and setup an esxi box to create a few virtual machines. I'm going to need 4 or 5 in total. What I'm wondering is, will I need a quad port nic for the Poweredge 2950 III so each VM has it's own connection, or can each virtual machine run off the one cat 6 cable running into the machine?

If every VM needed it's own connection, I'd have a lot of clients with 100+ cables coming out the back of their servers. lol

One cable will be enough, you just won't have network redundancy which, for a test box, is fine especially if all the VMs and host management IP will be on the same subnet.

The server has dual NIC's on it already. I plan on fooling around with it to learn a few things. What I want to do with it is as follows.

VM 1 - pfsense Firewall
VM 2 - CentOS Webserver
VM 3 - Windows 7 for an Automation project
VM 4 - Ubuntu Server for occasional use
VM 5 - Testing Server for various setups.

I was thinking pfsense would require its own dedicated line, as well as a dedicated line the CentOS Webserver for a personal project. The remainder would run off a shared network port. I just wasnt sure if it was possible to run more than one IP address off of one network cable.
