Ok. I bought a network hub because I just bought a new fax/printer/scanner machine. In the back of my PC, I have one ethernet jack. It has always been used for internet. Now, I need to use two (One for the internet, i got the sb5100 modem, and one for the printer which is not available). It was suggested that i buy a network hub, and I did. Now, I dont get how to configure this properly. I put the power on (Hooked the power wire into it and power light went on) and thats it. I tried connecting different wires to the 5 ports It has, but nothing. What do I connect to the back of my PC so I can use a cable modem I have and a printer I have?

Thats what I need help with. Ive tried all sorts of methods, but I dont get this. Did I buy the wrong product?

Model would help, but, it should be as simple as plug your computer into port one, plug the internet into port 2 and plug the printer into port 3. If there is a port that says internet or wan above it, then plug the internet into THAT one.

Model number would sort it out, but I fear the answer might be no.
"Network Hub Without Router"

without Router....

Did you intend to buy a hub without a router? Because it seems like a home router would fix a lot of your problems.

If you want to do this without a router...
You will need a 2nd nic in the pc you want to go on the internet.
Leave the one with the modem one connected as is.

Now I am assuming your printer has a network interface on it.

You need to give all your internal network connections (printers etc) different static IP's with 192.168.1.xxx addresses. All with 255.255.255.0 subnets. Then connect them all to the hub. You should then be able to ping the IP's of the other items on the network.
You shouldn't need a gateway address since the traffic on the hub won't be going outside it's own network.

Hope it helps. Post other questions if you have them as I might not be as good as explaining as I think I am.
