I bought a used dell that was on a network and im trying to reformat the drive but it wont let me. Im putting xp professional on the pc which was the same OS it had before, but I just dont want all the company crap on there. any idea's on what to do about a network drive?

It sounds to me like you are trying to re-format the drive without administrative rights. If you want to completely nuke the drive and install XP Pro on there i suggest you simply boot from your XP Pro CD and use the installers feature of Deleting the Partition, re-creating the partition, and formatting it that way.

This way you can kill 2 birds with one stone by completely nuking the old data and installing your OS at the same time.
