Network Drive As External HDD for Wii

I'm not sure if this will work so I figured I'd ask.

I have a plethora of free space for rent on my 2TB RAID array. I was thinking of partitioning 200GB and mapping it as a network drive to store game images on for when I softmod my Wii.

My question is this. If I run a USB patch cable from my PC to the Wii will it be able to detect and read the network drive as if it were an external hard drive?

No. You have to use a direct connected usb drive that is knowm to work.

Maybe if you put Linux on your Wii.

If you have a WODE, it can network load ISOs. Haven't tested it myself but intend to soon, now that I finally have a TV to play games on.
