Network browsing issue

SP2 for both comps, server (\\sakhan) Pro Client (\\jander) Home.

I can browse the network fine, going to \\sakhan enters in and views the 2 shared folders fine. But when I try to browse further I get strange issues.

I can load \\sakhan\external drive\ST.TNG\ and it will show 4 folders, \season 4, \season 5, \season 6, \season 7. But the folder \ST.TNG\ contains 7 items, all 7 seasons. And I can type in the \ST.TNG\Season 1\ in the address bar and it will load. It just wont show the folder.

Quite a few other directories are missing but will show if requested by name.

The problem must be on the sharing end. If I navigate to \\sakhan *from* sakhan it has the same issue, but viewing the folders directly is fine.

WTF is this computer smoking and how can I get it to quit?

I cant use the laptop to burn backup DVDs until I can be sure its getting everything. :(
 
Check the share properties and make sure that they are propagating to the child folders. Any security issues/restriction on the shares?
 
no. and no.
It refuses to show infividual files as well, even if you enter them by name.
But you can still type in an indivual (not shown) file and it will run that (not shown) file.

season 1 should be 4.27GB. When browsing from the network its showing that folders sie as 3.7GB.
 
I have herd that the following hotfix (KB885250) has been known to affect file shareing on some files and not others. I think its bundled ito SP2 I'm not 2 sure. As for removing it.........someone else might know how to do it but not me......sorry.
