Network backup for desktops

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but what's the best free network backup tool? I have maybe 5 desktops that I would like to backup every night into a server.

What OS? Windows 7 has a network backup built in. I've not tried restoring yet, but it looks pretty solid.

areca backup is what I've been using lately, been pretty solid so far.

I use Xcopy with a bunch of options. I schedule it to run everyday.

Not much is cheaper or more flexible.

Crashplan has a client that can backup to a server on your network as well.

Yeah sorry I forgot to mention all the desktops are running windows xp pro sp3.

Local or cloud server? If local, maybe WHS since backup for windows clients is pretty good and dead easy.

it would be local, actually we're already running server 2003 but i really haven't had that much experience with it.
