Network adapter error... Device cannot start

As the title states, I am trying to connect my labtop to the internet. I plugged in the cable in as usual but nothing happens. When I try to setup a network, it tries to use dial up connection. When i go to the device manager it shows there is an error with the network adapter:

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

The network adapter is:

ADMtek AN983 10/100Mbps PCI Adapter



If anyone has encountered anything like this let me konw
