NetGear WNR3500L

Hopefully this means that the WNDR3700 I just got yesterday (for only ~120$ from Dell) might support open source software in the future. Although this thing had so many features right out of the gate I am not sure I would need it. I have to say the software on this router was pretty nice from my limited experience.

Both look like awesome wireless routers. If I need a new router I going with one of these for sure. The DIR-655 has been having some problems with firmware lately. The transfer speeds on these should be much higher as well.

I also just picked up a WNDR3700. I'm using it as just a straight up access point. I like the simultaneous dual-band N wireless. I have a Cisco 871 to handle all the routing duties.

The WNDR3700 already runs OpenWRT, that's what the firmware is based off of. So, getting dd-wrt or a pure OpenWRT firmware loaded shouldn't take too long.
