All my pcs are now gigabits. Using cat5e wiring. My Netgear 5 port gigabit switch keeps on dropping the connections to 100mbit, and I need to reboot it to get gigabit speeds back.
Thanks

I have read that this is caused by using a mixed network of 100mb and Gigabit devices. So you don't have one device that is 100mb and not gigabit?

My connection from my router is 100mbit, but all the others are gigabit.
Thanks

If it's a GS60x and the cables have large connectors, try switching cables or pushing them in harder. Also try updating the drivers for the NICs.

A few other questions to help weed out the problem:

1) What kind of cables are you using?
2) How long are these cables going?
3) What network cards are your computers using?
4) Do you have the latest network card drivers installed?

The problem you're experiencing sounds like an auto-negotiation failure but it is very possible this could be caused by a faulty wire somewhere or the wrong type of wire over a long run.

I had a similar problem and it was a faulty wire, actually a bad end. Replaced the end on the cable, and its never dropped since.
