So the deadline is fast approaching for Netflix users to decide how they are going to deal with the new price hikes. What are you going to do? Cancelling? Paying the price increase? Going digital only?

I was finally convinced to get NetFlix a few months ago, right before the anouncement of the price hike. As soon as they announced the price hike, it was too much for what they were offering, so I cancelled. I liked the streaming, but their selection was very limited on new movies. They had a good selection in DVDs, but I don't watch and return them fast enough to make use of the pricing. So with both the streaming and DVDs the $10/month was just barely worth it for me. But $15/month for both is asking too much imho.

    Had the digital +1 disc.

Went digital only right after they announced the price increase. Although they've kept me on both 'till the deadline.

1x DVD Only. I'd rather have 2-3 New movies per week than unlimited streaming of crap.

Streaming + 1 Blu-ray for me which sucks because I was getting streaming + 2 Blu-rays for the same price. Now I have to be quicker about watching movies and sending them back.

1 dvd and streaming. I use the streaming a LOT. Mainly to catch up on my favorite tv shows. I keep the 1 DVD for the few times I want to watch a new movie.

switched to streaming a month ago. If they dont improve the selection more than they have may be leaving by the end of the year.

Likely in the minority, but keeping both 1 DVD and streaming for now. I don't use streaming much personally, but the wife has some TV shows she's watching, and there are a lot of options for the kid to stream. I have a backlog of movies to watch and am still too lazy/not out enough for Redbox, so the DVD stays; despite the fact that I know I'm not getting full value out of it.

Do I enjoy paying more for the same thing? No, but it is still the best option for my family I think, and I'm hoping that the extra revenue (if any?) goes toward more & better streaming content soon.

    Canceled a couple day ago.
Streaming selection is to limited for the price, and newer DVD where always on long wait.

I canceled and went with Directv for 24.99 a month and no installation or anything - HBO/Cinemax/Showtime for free for 3 months and NFL sunday ticket for free. Not worth paying the premium for BD's anymore and my internet provider throttles so I can't stream. Was either reduce to 2 movies at a time with no streaming or switch to Directv, and for the price it wasn't a hard decision.

Ha. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. Ha ha ha. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. I'm sure they'll use that money for good, just like the record profits the oil companies keep posting.

Redbox is vastly cheaper for my family so I killed off Netflix a few months back. Now if I could just convince my girlfriend that she doesn't need to listen to Sirius 24 hours a day I could get rid of satellite also.

I am still running through a few shows on streaming, but i expect to cancel it this month. They just aren't acquiring anything new that interests me. I may check out Hulu Plus at some point to see if they are any better. As for movies, I just haven't even look at the idea as most of those coming out aren't really that interesting.

literally just cancelled my account. They had a cute little survey. One asked how i will watch TV Shows and movies from now on. Bit Torrent and Bootleg DVDs were options. LOL They are prolly forwarding anyone who pics those to the FBI.

    Staying with streaming only :)

In all the years I've used netflix, I've only ever rented one disc (tales from the crypt lol). I'll go to redbox or the interwebs if netflix streaming doesn't offer it.

Word. I did the same because the DVDs just sat around on my desk and I never watched them.

Of course, every time I DO want to watch a particular movie, usually an old 80s movie, they never have them on streaming, so that prompts me to contact them with a helpful suggestion like GET MORE STREAMING MOVIES, BASTARDS!

It's still worth it for $8 a month to be able to stream every Star Trek series. However, their movie streaming choices are truly bizarre; only parts of trilogies or serials on streaming, some DVD only and others not even available. It makes no sense.

Went from 3 blu-rays to just streaming. And I would cancel the streaming, but they have a lot of kid shows that my daughter likes. But Amazon is making their Prime Instant Video service better all the time, so I don't see me keeping Netflix beyond the end of the year.

Keeping my current plan, 3 Blu-ray plus streaming, in the end my bill comes out to only 4-5 dollars more which for the value I get is great.
Since the announcement I have gone through and started using the streaming service more to see if it was worthwhile. I agree the movie selection is a bit sub-par for new movies, but I found that for TV shows it is great and what I will be using the streaming for.

For those getting or keeping the 1 disc option........
Most of us cannot watch that many movies per mth. Get a disc/send a disc!

RedBox is where it's at when I want a new movie! $1.10 per disc after taxes for me.

After trying Redbox one weekend I hated it. Went to one 7-11, didn't have the titles.. had to drive to another location at Walgreens.. still sold out on the bluray titles I wanted.

Had to finally settle for a Blockbuster Express center that had a different bluray title that I decided to go with after driving around.

    Not worth it IMO.

We cancelled our subscription last night. We just didn't actually use it enough to make it worth it.

When I canceled, I found the "Using Bit Torrent" and the "Bootlegging DVDs" options funny:)

Of course I chose the "not worth the money" and "limited streaming selection" for the reason I canceled.

I've been steaming only for a long time, even when disks were an option, so this really has no effect on me.

I for one can't live without both services, and even though the extra 7.99 month is going to cost my daughter her college education, I am going to muscle through.

hopefully she forgives me one day.

You need to use the redbox.com website. From there, you can see what locations have the movies you're interested in and even reserve them for a quick checkout procedure.

if only there was a service available that allowed me to pick out movies online and then have them mailed to me.

Now that would be a good idea for a company.

Returned my last rented DVD yesterday, confirmed it via email today, and switched to the online-only plan. $2 more for me per month, and the kids still get all their fun streaming video content. We hardly watched the rental DVDs anyways - our last one was The King's Speech, and it took us like 3 months to get around to viewing it :)

I may also pick up Amazon Prime's video streaming at some point, as the free 2-day shipping is a nice perk, but I expect to need Netflix for the kids videos for the forseeable future. We've managed to keep to only the extremely basic cable package because of these, and $8 a month is far cheaper than a bigger digital cable subscription!

For me steaming does not have many newer titles
to choose from. I also like BLU-Ray much better
    for the quality, streaming sucks.

So, I'm dropping streaming, and going from one BLU-Ray
disc to two, and still save a couple of bucks.

If it was just me in the house, I'd continue my 2-DVD/Blu-ray per month and cancel my streaming plan since I never use it. But I have 2 little girls who uses it, so looks like I'm going 1 DVD/Blu-ray and a streaming plan. Oh well.

I guess I am in the minority. I did have 3 Blurays plus streaming, but I downgraded to 2 Blurays. There are plenty of other streaming options, but nothing can replace the large selection of DVDs and Blurays.
