My birthday is at the end of the month and i am thinking a bobcat based netbook or an android tablet... I have a android phone i cant stop messing with the roms and stuff on... but if i want to increase the size of the device i carry i kinda would like a full and more complete experience like i would get running windows...

Budget is 300 or below...

I have several desktops no mobiles. Main desktop could use upgrades it is a 4800+x2 am2+ with 2 gig of ddr2 1066 ram...

the main question is, what do you want to do on the go?

I have a 7" android tab, and i only use it as a big screen video player on the go. Anything bigger would be seriously uncomfortable to hold in public transport. Typing also isnt exactly stellar on a touch-screen. I am thinking of doing android app development on the go a bit, and for that a larger netbook (11.6-12.1) would be ideal.

basically my breakdown:
- video/apps on the go >> 7" tablet
- couch-surfing >> 10" tablet / netbook
- anything requiring more then very scarce typing >> netbook.

As for the netbook, avoid the 1024*600 screens if you can, it works, but for any sort of productive work it is rather cramped

Well videos web surfing maybe hd video maybe some games planning on getting old republic but not holding out for being able to play it on the go as I hate gaming on laptops tablets that is a desktop thing. I might work on a web comic on it so story boarding and dialog writing .

ok now which one my only real thought is amd c-50 or better for the processor ... and under 300

Upon searching this is really my only option http://www.amazon.com/Acer-AO722-BZ454-11-6-Inch-Netbook-Espresso/dp/B004UR16ES/ref=pd_cp_pc_1

That actually looks like a fun little machine. I think Target had a deal on a C-50 based Acer Netbook, it was something like $269.99 and came with a $50 gift card. I don't know if that's still going on, but if it is then it might be worth checking out.

just checked target.com for that one and no either the sale is gone or that isnt the one that was on sale...

yeah the bobcat + ati 6250 makes it a sweet little machine even capable of playing some games too...
So far i found people reporting the following as playable
duke nukem forever
wow
i think it was motorstorm

also video plays really well

The one thing that has always been lacking is the video abilities of mobile devices
