Nero not recognising CD-RW's...

I'm not sure if this is a Nero problem or a CD-ROM problem but I was leaning towards Nero so I posted here.

Up until a week ago, my CD-RW was working fine. I could burn any cds I wanted (Audio, data, etc). The other day, I tried to burn a data cd and now I can't.

I use Nero and I set everything up (files, etc) and get to the screen where I choose the burn speed (4X) and when I click burn, I get a message pop-up saying "the medium in the drive is not writable. Please insert a writable medium"

Then below it has "Medium required CD-R/RW and Medium in drive CD-RW". Then it ejects the cd.

Why is this happening? I have used these CD-RW's hundreds of times and now Nero is not reading CD-RW's. I can't figure out a solution.

I have a Liteon 523252 and the latest firmware as well as the latest Nero 5 update 5.5.10.56 so I'm stumped with what I can do and I need to burn a data cd for a friend.

Did you try reinstalling the program?
