Neopower 480 for sli?

I have an antec neopower 480 powering the rig in my specs. I'm awaiting a new sli system and I believe the neopower is enough but not entirely sure.

AMD 4400+ X2
2x 7800GTX's in SLI
4x DVD burner's
1 250GB 7200rpm SATA Maxtor HD
2GB PC3200 RAM

Am I going to regret not adding a new PSU to the order?

Neopower 480 specs

Max power: 480W
Output: +3.3V@30A, +5V@38A, +12V1@18A, +12V2@15A, -12V@1A, +5VSB@2A

nVidia wants +12V@34A for SLI & the NeoPower 480W has a combined +12V of 32A.

Try it, you should't hurt anything. The worst that should happen is you won't get top performance.

I recommend the OCZ PowerStream 520W,
the Antec TruePower II 550W which is SLI Certified or the Enermax 535W also SLI Certified.

Thanks for the information and advice. The enermax 535 didn't seem like enough power and I did some reading on the Antec and even that wasn't up to snuff. Read about it giving stability/reboot issue's after awhile. And I've had a bad Antec truepower 400 before that gave me stability issue's so I wasnt about to got throught that again on a new build. I went with the Enermax 660W PSU with 3 12v rails and a total of 47A. I thought the neopower 480 would last me through at least 2-3 more upgrdes. Hopefully this enermax will and will also be trouble free.

Overkill, the PC P&C 510 Express/SLI for $219 is a better choice. ;)

Damnit. I was looking for something cheaper. And I did check out that PSU. But it seemed to be right on the numbers and figured it was better to go with some overhead. The only gripe I have about the enermax is that I hope it isn't noisy. And that the wires are too long and too many, it being a server PSU. All of the other PSU's at a cheaper price point either had reviews with stability/quality issue's, noise, or not being up to the task despite the numbers.

I definitly spent more than I would've liked. But I see it as the PSU will be the one to last me a long while. And also, I've spent enough on my new build that it's akin to buying a sports car and then having the burden of having to fill it up with 93 octane due to the manufacturer's recommendations. And we all know how pricey that is these day's.

You bought a good PSU, but it will have very long cables & probably noisey fans as well, being a SSI/EPS server PSU,
but it should last you (almost) forever! ;)
 
Damn you! And thank you! ok I cancelled the order on the Enermax. And am again looking at PSU's. I also noticed the guide at the top of the forum's (duh. Should've noticed earlier) And am giving it a read over to find what's best. Currently mulling over the OCZ and the Silverstone. There's no way I could deal with a noisy PSU. I think this is the one for me.

i honestly think the neopower would be fine for that system...

i think the 34A recomendation is a little conservative, due to the great amounts of shitty PSU's boasting better-than-they-can-pull specs.

but if you must get a new psu, i used the seasonic 600w in a GTX build, it was solid and very quiet.

The Seasonic is an awesome PSU but damn as I tried I couldn't find it in stock anywhere. So I went with the OCZ 600W. Quiet, plenty of power and got great reviews and a notch of overkill.. Also a tad cheaper than the too much overkill enermax 660w. BTW, thanks for the input and the write up at the top of the forum. Much appreciated.

It should serve you well. ;)

EDIT:

Just make sure that you have enough +5V load (HDD's, etc) as it requires this load for cross-loading balance,
inorder to give you all of the +12V amperage that you are going to want.
