We had a few Compaq all-in-one systems that used those at another company I worked for a while ago and I just remembered how slow they were.

I'm just thinking to myself: forget this "round," it's clear who the winner is already. nVidia and ATI have both essentially "sat out" of a GPU refresh cycle and came back with a hugely successful product for the next one (I'm thinking Geforce 5800FX). AMD has enough depth in it to continue for another 12 months on what they already have, but I see it as absolutely essential to compete in 2009. Maybe it's unannounced but I'm wondering if they have mentioned any products that will be out in the Nehalem timeframe?

Without much competition from AMD, INTEL wont be releasing Nehalem until there's a compelling reason to do so, right now there isnt and intels goodies are rising in price ofcourse. More than four cores?? how about an OS and apps that can do something with useful with two or four?? If anyone has looked at the wattage lately, those quadcores are definitely hot and hungry for power so I dont see any use for more cores at this time

Uhhhh how about servers doing virtualization, which is a HUGE portion of the market :rolleyes:

Really ? On what planet do you live ? Last I've checked , prices are going down , in some cases by 50% ( Q6700 is a bargain now )

Maybe K10s ; Intel QC , especially 45nm ones are really cool.
