Some of the highlights from the PC Perspective coverage. http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=606

"Intel Nehalem Technology Briefing"
There are no standard temperature sensors in the classic sense on Nehalem, instead there are digital sensors that connect to the on-board micro-controller that is ONLY responsible for managing power states.
...
Here you can see another shot of the Nehalem Turbo Mode that essentially overclocks cores as power becomes available from cores that are powered down. In this diagram you can see that if cores 2 and 3 are powered down thanks to Power Gates, you can afford (from a power consumption sense) to run cores 0 and 1 at faster clocks.
...
The quesiton just came up: how much boost can you get on Turbo Mode? There answer: the answer is more based around how much power headroom each system has on its own. A system (power supply, motherboard, cpu) that is close to maximum power will improve less than a system with a lot of headroom. This seems vague - so a system with a better motherboard and better power source could get MORE than another configuration. Sounds like normal overclocking to me!

"Pat Gelsinger and Dadi Perlmutter"
They (AMD) did indeed have a meeting room setup in a nearby hotel. I'll have some coverage of what was there later today though honestly it wasn't incredibly exciting.
...
Dunnington is apparently shipping and will be the final 45nm product of the Core 2 line up.

Remember that Dunnington is the 6-core processor under the Xeon name that they talked about at IDF in Shangai 6 months ago or so.

Here we go with Nehalem: announced the Core i7 name brand.

First silicon on Nehalem EX on display - that is the server version with 8 cores.
...
For virtualization, Nehalem has some advantages and improvements. On stage now is a rep from VMWare. Intel's new chipset technology will allow the virtual machine to directly connect to PC hardware instead of going through the hypervisor simulator software. While not DIRECT hardware connections it is apparently much closer than previous implementations.
...
Now for client offerings for Nehalem - Havendale shows the migration from a three chip partitioning to a two chip partitioning. Integrated graphics and memory controller will be integrated on Havendale with only a single chip chipset required for IO capability.

Now comparing quad core Kentsfield to quad core Nehalem on an update to Lost Planet: Colonies. Frame rates were higher on Nehalem of course though we don't know anything else about the configurations - GPUs, resolutions, etc.

In CineBench Nehalem is getting a performance boost of about 40% compared to Core 2 Quad.

That should hold you over until the bigger articles come out.
