I want a new case for my M-Barton box and need some suggestions

Something that will cool well (on air)
Looks half ass decent
Havent really thought of a budget but lets say under $75
Id preffer something with 120mm Fans instead of a bunch of 80mm ones if possible
Front USB
I will be replacing an X-Dreamer 2

Ideas?
 
Antec 3000b? Or possibly the Antec Solo if you want to up your budget a bit. The Cooler Master Centurion 5 is usually pretty highly recommended, but I have no personal experience with the case. And that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Yea, i sold the van :(
I didnt want to but i didnt have the time or the extra cash at the time to do what i wanted to with it. The kid that got it has a fleet of TDs and he ended up racing it at the track and is building it up so it went to a home and to someone that could do with it what i couldnt :)

I do plan on finding another one tho :D

shame the van had to go, at least it will get some use, as for computer cases id go with the super lanboy, it sitting at $80 thou

The whole front is mesh
It has 2x120mm fanholes
It has side vents (fan over CPU and vents over the GPU area)
You can get the Matrix vd3000 with a window, but the non-version looks better and has more side venting.
It has screwless HDD/DVD-ROM installation
It has USB/FW/mic/headphone plugs on the bottom front of the right side

Did I mention that the whole front is mesh?
 
i have a raidmax scorpio case and it's like $50 i think. it's really a pretty nice case for the money. i have 2 of them and have been using them both heavy for the past 3 years and amazingly the PSUs that they come with are still running fine.

this isn't mine.. but it's how mine looks (besides i have cut off the metal on the side of the window to have a larger window), and cleaned up my wires some.

it seems pretty good for wire management too. i'm a newb at it, but i made mine pretty clean.

it comes w/ 3 case fans and 1 has led's

people complain about the door too, but mine haven't been any trouble. and then you can put the money you save into fans/cathodes/whatever you want. :D

oh and they do have front USB's and audio

if you don't want the midtower they have a full tower too, but it's more expensive of course.

wow its happened thermaktake and 'does not look cheezey" in the same line and its true :confused: it jsut boggles the mind, why cant they make more normal looking cases likethis one?
 
I know you're a forum mod, so you have more than enough experience, but I have been building systems for a very long time as well, and my last case choice was a very mixed bag.

Avoid my mistakes, if you havent made similar ones already at some point.

Everything in red is evil. I didnt realize when buying this case that the upper curve and extra long drive bays would make things exceptionally hard to work with up top, and also didnt realize the lower hard drive cage would make a very audible revolving hum sound while the drives work (note the circular rubber stoppers I placed under one end for this reason).

You live, you learn I guess. If I had to pick right now for the $75 range I would find an antec/cheiftec/chenming 'dragon' or 'matrix' style with 120mm fans and go for it.

That Giga-byte case looks alright...a little bland...but sensible. It would be a great modding case at least... pretty much the same at the thermaltake though...and it costs $25 more...

Eeeek Gad that Ultra thing is an old-school nasty looking case. Its just another chieftech/chenbro/antec clone...same with that raidmax. They dont even sport 120mm fans...thats a must for me.

Those 2 coolermater cases look butt-ugly in the pic, and even worse in person. The last good CM case to buy was that stacker...and that was so-so looking (it was the most functional case you could buy though next to a Lian Li PC-7077 or a PC-V2000. Otherwise, all the CM cases are so-so looking...just pour on the cheese!

The Matrix is pretty much an Armor Jr. but w/o the dumb name and crappy door flaps.

Then there is the NZXT...looks good but kinda chunky and $129

BTW, if you like acrylic, and cubes (like I do)...www.cubedpc.com The $200 13" case is about the best layout you can ask for in a cube...I wish Lian Li would make an aluminum cube like this that looks like their PC-V series, that would se sweeeet.

Silversones are all the same looking on the inside and nothing inspiring on the outside, and waaay to expensive for what they are.

Sorry Im rambling, but my case hunting that just ended. I have a PC-V2000 modded, an acrylic cube, and I thought about a PC-7077 except it doesnt sport all 120mm fans (but the 12 bays up front I like). I already have tall and expensive...this time I just wanted the best looking/most functional I could get for cheap. I ended up buying that Logisys SOHO case and a Thermaltake VD2000 matrix...they are the best bang for the buck around.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing kinda...but at least it doesnt have some cheezy garbage on the front like thermaltakes, or some 'dracula meets voltron' face like alot of crap does these days.

I suppose it looks halfway decent because it kinda reminds me of the elusive chenbro gaming bomb II. I wouldnt buy it though. Its just too much bulk for what I like.

If it wasnt so bulky and clunky (as many plastic shell on steel body 'fab' computers tend to be), but rather some uni-body made case, I would be all over it. I kinda like the stylin'...its kinda sexy. Looks like something out of star-wars or something.
