Before I just reformatted I put ALL my important documents on my external hard drive, (hard drive enclosure w/ a internal hard drive in it)

Now that I formatted, I can't get into it, the computer doesn't recognize it, nor any of my other USB devices, I have WinXP SP1 installed and all the other updates, what could be wrong?

dont those drives need a driver? install your usb drivers like thermite said
 
go to the motherboard manufacturer's site and look for usb drivers
 
Didn't your mobo come with a CD with your Mobo drivers/VIA 4-1/USB Drivers on it? and your cd with your ext. HD drivers?
