I'm building an oldskool rig and not sure what do do for video. The board I'm using has integrated sis530. PCI/ISA only. I'm thinking of a voodoo card maybe the 4500.

What do you think?

(BTW: some of you older guys might not consider this 'oldskool' but I'm not looking for something too old :p )

I'd say find a matrox millenium g400 and twin voodoo 2's. That would make a good nostalgia rig :)

....twin Voodoo 2's....

My first box used 2 of those sam'itched.

What a beast.

Am I wrong, or was there 2 versions of these cards?

A 12mb and a 16mb?

Seems mine were 12's {two for 24m of power!}

But a lot of them I see now on the used adds are 16's....

Sis-in-laws girlfriend owns that P2-350 w/Voodo cards now. I bug her all the time. It will be mine..oh yes. Once again....

:rolleyes:

The Voodoo cards seam to run the best with the horrible:eek: Sis530 chipset :p
Oh the shame i actually owned one complete with 500mhz Amd:eek:

Well, if you want SPEED, then a Radeon 9100 can be found PCI form-factor. That's the fastest card of the type.

As for real 'old-skool', try a Voodoo4-PCI or Voodoo5-PCI. Couple of each up on eBay right now.

Reason I suggest those cards is that they are the oldest PCI cards out there with FSAA. You DO want FSAA, right?

Voodoo4 was a little too slow to use it, really, most the time. Even IN older Glide games. The Voodoo5 could pretty much FSAA (at least 2x, often 4x) in any Glide game ever released. And it's a pretty damn good FSAA it did, too. Akin to ATI's current 4xAA or nVidia's 6x.
