need vid card suggestions

The video card in my sig is apparently dead. I'm not familiar with any of the current generations of vid cards, so, I'm looking for replacement recommendations. Can't get 4800 series anymore, so what should I get? My power supply is 650w, with only two 6 pin pci-e cords, so I can't do crossfire w/o a power supply upgrade. Can't do SLI. I'm not married to ATI either, have always been an NVIDIA guy before this one. I would like to stay at $200 or less if possible, but would like to get something equal to or better than the HD 4870 1gb being replaced. I also don't want to waste money on anything that would be bottlenecked by my q6600, though I guess it wouldn't hurt to have headroom for a possible chip upgrade in the future.

I play FPS almost exclusively, COD:BO, BF:Bad Company, expect to be playing Battlefield 3 when it ships. Monitor is 23" HD LCD, resolution is 1920x1080.

Any suggestions would be very appreciated.:confused:
 
A 6870 would be much better than the 4870, cost less than $200, and may be bottlenecked by the q6600 if you don't overclock it. Or you can go for a GTX 460 1gb at about the $150 range (make sure not to get the SE version).
 
If you don't plan to update anything else. a 6870 would be great. I replaced a pair of 4870s running in crossfire and the jump in performance was amazing. And the power needs are not that much more then a 4870. The 4870 cards were power hungry monsters.

I would suggest trying to find a Q9550 on the forums for cheap. With all the upgrades out there I've seen them for as low as $60-$80.

As for PSU.. NO you don't need a new PSU. I have that PSU in the wifes box running a 5770 and half a dozen large 7200rpm drives without issue.
 
I don't know how you feel about it... But you can always try ebay. I got a 4870 for 63 bucks, mint condition. Can find some good deals on ebay...
 
If you're willing to part with ~$30 until the rebate arrives, the 560 is the fastest thing available under $200.

Wow, I've never looked to see prices on eBay, I always thought [H] would be cheaper. I hope deals like that happen often, I'm looking to get a 4850.
