I just got my UV-Light from Xoxide.com One of those dual ready UV lights, but with just one of them in it. Anyway I'd have to say it's the most pathetic thing I have ever seen in my life. For anything in my case to glow it has to be about 2 cm away from it. Every cable I have lights up, my IDE cables, my power supply has UV sleeving, and my watercooling lights up when UV is there. So does anyone know a decent UV light? I have a full tower Aspire case and well I want it all to light up. I thought it would with this, but boy was I wrong. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!
 
More light. Shoulda got the dual kit.

Also, sometimes they get brighter in a day or 2, so don't panic just yet.
 
I got a dual UV cathode kit made by Sunbeam off SVC awhile back. It's working nicely with my DFI NF4 Ultra-D.

I got the CoolerMaster dual UVs from Xoxide too and they are working pretty good, well WERE working pretty good since one of them broke :(

*note to self, bending cathodes over and under wires will cause them to break*


My case is a lot smaller that yours but the one I have left over is working well

You may want to try these http://www.xoxide.com/pulaledkit.html, I don't know how well they work but im thinking about getting one to replace my broken one since i realise now that i don't really have space to accomodate one and you can put one anywhere in the case since they can be hidden easier.

Question tho, do you have a lot of other other lights in the case, because if you do they might affect the UV reaction. I have 3 blue led fans and the UV reaction around them is less but at the same time it lights up all the white clothes in my closet!
 
Im actually thinking about going with led clusters instead of ccfl's, but knowing me, Ill go with both :p
 
yeah I was actually also thinking that might be the problem. I have 8 fans total in my case (2 including in power supply) and the 2 in the power supply are blue, the rest are green. You think that would be affecting some of the light? I put it down at the bottom and well the only thing that seems to be benefeting from it would be the pump and how that is UV active. I guess I can always buy more, but just the power connector that comes with them is so bulky and annoying. I was hoping just a regular power connector, but it's something else instead. Hopefully I'll take some pics of it later so then you can see what I'm talking about.


g33zy, just looked at that link you gave and wow that actually looks pretty good. If you do get it tell me if you like it.

for everything to actually give off a good glow in your case, ull need 4 tubes total.

the reason being is that those lights dont have much "range". almost all cases that have some good uv glow have always had 4 tubes.

All the other LEDs is definitely whats affecting your glow, last night i turned off all my LED fans (except PSU) and tested how it looks and teh glow is *angelic* (cue harps) :rolleyes:

what mobo do u have?
 
youll need at the minimum 2 cathodes
one at the bottom and one at the top

for maximum effect get 4
the other two should be in the front and back
 
Hmm, well last night I was having a LAN at my house with a few of my friends and then about at 6:30 AM, hehe I smelled something burning and like it was coming from my PC. So of course I shut it down and start looking. I found out that it was the UV light that I just installed. The little power connector rectangluar box thingy that they gave me was defective or something. When I unplugged the power to it I saw some black stuff around one of the plugs.

-My motherboard is the Asus A7N8X-E, yes I'm still using the Athlon XP :(

-Are there any other better things out there that would be displaying more light? Something that has more of a range that I can just hang from the top and shine down, or vise versa.

-If all else fails I guess I could just get 3 more fans, and just get them all with LED lights, that's if this UV thing just isn't going to be working out.
 
I got the ultra cheap dual UV CC kit from Xoxide and it works great... I ran with one bar only for a long time and it lighted the whole bottom of my case... but it was much more noticable at night. maybe check all of your wiring, or maybe plug it into a different power lead. I just ordered dual 4" UV CC's also... smaller size and can hide away nicely in small areas. w00t.
