I have used ACDsee forever, since v3 (its now on ver 8+ and "Pro" versions).

IMHO this software has become BLOATED and slow, not to mention it tries to take over your system from time to time, and, will not release some filetypes that I dont want viewed with it (such as videos).

I need a light-weight, image-only, and preferably fast image viewer.

Any suggestions? What do you guys use and why do you use them?

Thanx (in advance)

IrfanView makes a decent viewer (also resizing and cropping).

Microsoft used to ship a program called Photo Editor with Office 2000 if you can find a disk.

I think xnview might be closer to what you're looking for. Irfanview is great, but ACDsee is more of a photo gallery type software. I was a big fan of ACDsee for a loooong time, but dropped it after how you described it seemed to get slower and more bogged down with each release.

If you find a solid replacement, please post it as I would be interested in this as well.

I like picasa for viewing my pictures. Its damn fast and damn small.

I think I am going to go with Xnview... it does what I want and doesnt do what I dont want.

Thanx guys, I always know I can count on you to give good advice.

I personally like Windows Picture and Fax viewer, not as nice as an older version of ACDSee, but it does what I need and keeps me happy, now if only Win 2000 had it
