Need to Know if I will be Held Back

I want to get this 6800 http://www.<a href="newegg com" onm...ProductDesc.asp?description=14-130-202&depa=1 but im worried that it might be to much for my system and i wont be able to use it to its full potential, thus being a waste of money.

I got a AsusP4P8X mb, Prescott 2.6ht, 512mb RAM (also looking to upgrade) the best part a 5200FX video card!!!!(shut up)

can u overclock? 200-400 mhz will do the card good... and u won't be held back alot... go for it and overclock ur cpu a bit

I would first get another stick of 512mb ram, and then see if you can't overclock your cpu a bit. Every cpu out is a bottleneck to some degree. I wouldnt be too worried about it. Its definately going to be a noticeable upgrade for you.

People post all kinds of silly stuff about this.

Of course you will be bottlenecked by your CPU. That doesn't mean your system won't be much, much faster with the 6800 than the FX 5200, just that it COULD be faster still if you had a faster processor. EVERYTHING is bottlenecked by something, because you always have SOMETHING that is the slowest part.
