Need to get a Camcorder

Hello, My parents wedding anniversary is coming up and they need a new camcorder so i need to know what you all recommend. Price range is about 500$ might go higher if its worth it. Looking for something with maybe HDD or DVD or if theres one with both thatd be sweet.
So if you could help me thatd be pretty cool.

If you want quality get a MiniDV, if you want ease of use get a DVD/HDD like you stated.

yea ease of use is definitely better i dont think my parents would really care about the difference, it cant be that big of a difference right?

DVD camcorders are about as easy as it gets. You take out the DVD and pop it into a DVD player to watch it. The disks are inexpensive you can store the disks on the shelf.

Hard drive camcorders can store hours and hours of video... but then you have to copy the files to a computer, burn them to a DVD... and then backup the original footage somewhere. It can be done... but it's many more steps to get the video to the TV and to long term storage.

CANON HV30. I have it and it rocks! Clean and crisp.

You could probably get the Canon HG10 for under $600, cause there's a replacement coming soon. HF100 is a great option except you'll need money for flash cards.

I really think $600-700 is the sweet spot for HD camcorders.

best camera out there right now for under $1000 is the HV30 or HV20. MiniDV is still the best quality and security. I just got my HV30 and am loving it.
