Welcome to the forum!

A good rule to know and live by is "post in the appropriate area." In this case, that would be places like:

Motherboards
Video Cards
AMD / Intel Processors

You don't want to do complete reposts in each one, but you might consider searching (another good rule!) for things like "sub-$200 video card" (and figure it translates to ~$300 CDN, which is probably a reasonable proportion) or cheap mobos or whatnot.

Furthermore, it's nice to demonstrate that you've done your homework; the forum is not intended to replace Google. You get better answers when you can say "I'm considering the Radeon 9600, do you think that'll be OK for FarCry with a 2.4GHz P4?" or the like.

Finally, and most importantly, the Doom 3 Hardware Guide is a fantastic place to start your research. Look at the cheap systems there and price them out. That gives you a great benchmark expectation on a game that'll run the rig as hard as it can, and will probably continue to be adequate for 2 or 3 years. If you can't price one for less than your limit, you should probably consider saving more money.
