Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
No doubt it pumps the heat...but it's not awful. Noise is not an issue. I can't really notice it chugging along in my living room.
As for the gaming...I paid $50 for a copy of Ulitmate Alliance. Wish I hadn't. Even with a 1080p TV the graphics, at least of that game, are less than I expected. The viewpoint is an odd agle down, so you can only see stuff close to you, and there are a few glitches in the cut scenes. I'm going to get Need for Spped Carbon and Resistance: Fall of man today. We'll see how they work. I watched Fantastic Four on Blu-ray...frikin wow! at 1080p, that movie rocks balls.
The really important question is the folding power. I really really really want that folding client. The system will get a minimum of 16 hours a day during the week that it can just fold. I'm excited to see it in action.
Does anyone know if one needs to stop the folding client on a PS3 when the unit is used to play games or movies, or is it like the CPU console client where you forget about it?
Well, for now, you can't even play a game or watch a movie while it's downloading a demo...and the 650 ish meg F1 Racing demo took about two hours...on a 6Mbit cable connection. So there's a severe issue with multitasking...and aparently with the uplink from their servers. Hopefully that will change. I mean, you can't even que downloads. If you want to download a demo, game, movie trailer or video teaser video, you select it and wait. And wait...and wait. Do I smell a patch cooking?
