Need suggestions on laptop

I need a laptop to replace my desktop for gaming and for college as well. I'm considering in buying a gateway P-6860FX. I'm pretty sure it will do fine for gaming, but I'm not sure how useful it can be for college when compared to more portable laptops. Should I buy the P-6860FX or should I look into other laptops?
