I need some suggestions on RAM to get on a 3.0 P4 with HT. As of now, I'm thinking of getting a Hyper-X or XMS series.. I also need suggestions on the best economic case + PSU. :rolleyes:
 
Mushkin Level 1, Corsair XMS, or Kingston HyperX will all be good if you're overclocking. Crucial PC3200 if you don't OC.

As for case, really more of your personal preference.

Antec makes the best quality cheap cases that include DECENT power supplies.

Don't get a no name brand ps.

Yea but i wanted the blue spreaders and got black instead :(. I guess black fits in with more colors then blue though so it should look good in about any motherboard i stick it in.
 
You think that's bad? I got a green and a silver stick in my comp. I'd kill for black or blue heat spreaders.

Did you RMA one and get a different color? I had 1 black 1 silver and I RMAed the black, but I asked them if they could send me a silver one in place of it. And of course they did. Mushkin rocks!

So it's for sure Mushkin is the best buy out of all of em? Kinda insecure considering I've never heard of the company. In addition, their not really any much cheaper then the XMS or the Hyper-X so I wanna be completely sure they perform better then the other 2. :rolleyes:
 
Mushkin is a famous RAM maker; however, they don't sell them in retail stores which is probably why you haven't heard much of anything about them.

Their RAM is really good, right there with Corsair and they have great customer service too, like Corsair and Crucial. The Mushkin level 1, from those links, have the best timings available and for Athlon XPs, that's very important.

And EnderW: yeah, they sent me a replacement DIMM that had a silver heat spreader. I should have probably asked for a matching DIMM too!

I'm about to flash mine in the hopes it will let me crank the RAM voltage past 2.8v.

I updated the BIOS to the most current one (BIOS 22, February 27th) a few weeks back. DRAM voltage is maxed at 2.8V; you have to volt mod the board to get higher voltages.
 
Whats the max VCore on the Abit IC7-G? My new Gigabyte GA-8KNXP supports up to 2.8v VDIMM also and 1.76v VCore.

Max VCore is 1.90 V in .025 increments. Why anyone would dare go that high I don't know.

Yea 1.6-1.7v is as high as i would go. Its not worth it to fry an expensive processor for a few more MHz.
 
You have to replace a resistor on the motherboard so it requires some soldering to do. I saw instructions on how to do it, but I lost the link.

I found it, but I don't what I was thinking. I bought a 2.8C from one of the mods here and he says it will do 3.5GHz so I'm just gonna run a 5:4 divider at 200MHz.
