The users system currently has a 64GB drive at 95% capacity.

A 120GB+ drive would be ideal.

What catches my eye the most is the Samsung 830. The 840 (TLC) is the next drive I'm considering. I'm considering the 830 both on performance and endurance.

If anyone has any other recommendations please let me know.

Also what is the best way to image the drives from one to another? I know that you shouldn't image a HDD to a SSD, but SSD to SSD shouldn't be an issue right?

So Ghost, Acronis a random boot PE disk?

I love my Samsung 830 (128GB), it's been a great SSD.

I imaged my mechanical hard drive to the SSD in my HTPC and if there was any performance degradation I wouldn't see it, it's that fast.

Another option for cloaning that people often mention is Clonezilla, although I've never personally used it.

When cloning from any HDD to any HDD (SSD, spinning HDD...) you must make sure that the alignment is correct or your HDD's performance will be severed. You can check your HDD alignment using ASSSD tool. Divide the number by 4096 and if the quotient is an even number, your HDD is correctly aligned. Paragon Alignment Tool is one way to correct your alignment without touching the data but it is not free.

Here's a nice little tutorial about cloning a mechanical HD to an SSD.

As mentioned the SSDs alignment is what to watch. Check out this tutorial which includes links for a free partition alignment program.

It's easy.;)

gparted on partition magic will take care of the alignment because it is set properly by default there. so you right click on the partition you want to copy, then right click on the drive you want to copy it to, and then gparted won't let you move the new partition any closer to the start than 4096 or whatever it is

I'm cloning a SSD to SSD. I think I'm check out parted magic first. Although some of the more user friendlier utilities look interesting.

As an update I did this multiple times over the weekend.

I downloaded parted magic and ran clonezilla for the clone. It was fairly painless and fast. One one HDD the clones the same size hdd to one another, so I didn't have to alter the partition sizes. For another I cloned a small ssd to a large ssd. So after the clone (same exact method) I ran gparted to change the partition tables. Gparted too is included with parted magic.
