i installed the latest nvidia driver last night and after rebooting my OS HD failed (i'm hoping by coincidence). it's no longer being detected in bios.

i'd like to replace it with something a bit bigger (>150gb), with decent speeds. i'd also like to spend less than $100 (unless i'm going to see a huge performance boost by spending more). the last time i bought a HD the seagate xx.10 series were pretty top performance, what can i find now that is similar? this will be for my OS but with the increased size i will probably be playing some games on it as well

The WD 640GB drives seem to be a favorite 'round here, I don't know the model number though, should be easy to find on sites that sell computer hardware. Last time I looked they were about $65.

i just ordered the wd6401aals, looks good

hopefully my HD really is broken and it's not my SATA controller/MB

thanks for the replies
