Alright guys, I've kinda been out of the scene for a few months and need some advice..

I currently have $400 available for an upgrade...

I noticed that alot of people are speaking of the new socket 939 Athlon 64 cpu's. This is definitely the route that I want to take..

What cpu/mb combo would you suggest.

My current specs are the following..

Xp 2800+ @3200
Corsair XMS PRO 3200xl 1 gig
Asus a7n8x deluxe 2.0
Pny Geforce 6800 gt @ ultra speeds
Antec Trueblue 480 watt p/s
Audigy 2 Platinum Ex

i duno about everyone elses. but my oppinion would be to wait untill theres a use for 64 bit computers. dont take me wrong they are hella good processors. but as far as i know there are no programs out that support 64 bit. unless there is and i havent heard of them. so correct me if im wrong. but im waiting for them to get more popular with programs n games n stuff.
 
The point of 64 bit computers right now isn't to run as 64-bit, but to kick the shit out of everything else. A claim of "software isn't 64-bit compliant" isn't really justified after you look at general performance.

I say get a 3500 plus a AV8. It comes out to about $400. I you want to save a few bucks, go for a new winchester 939

EDIT, sorry :p I didn't mean to make you feel bad, but to me its just worth it for the performance
