I got 2 two servers, both running dual processors and with at least 5-7 HD in raid. i just started working here and i suggested that it would be a good idea to get some surge protectors for these machines. Would a simple belkin surge protector be enough or should i get some heavy duty ones?

so if i get a UPS system, there would be no need for surge protectors?

but this may sound like stupid question. Lets say the power does go out over the weekend and no one is around to properly shutdown the machines, what is the point in having a UPS?

Most UPS s have built in surge protection and alot of them have usb connections for you computer and software to automatically shut down or hibernate your computer.

would it be better to buy one UPS for each machine?
