i have a gigabyte P67A-GD65, and need some advice.

i have 4 standard HDD's, one optical drive and one SSD.

i want all of the drives to operate as their own separate device. No RAID or anything.

On my MB, i see ports 1 and 2, and 7 and 8 as the 6G and the others are 3G

what i am confused on is how i plug in the drives on the MB, and set them up in the BIOS so they are operating independent of each other.

thanks in advance for advice.

You can tell the BIOS RAID setup that you just want to use the drives plugged into the RAID SATA ports as single drives.

Well by default they will be left alone, don't worry about that. Put the controllers (you have two) in AHCI, put the SSD on port 1, and the others wherever (don't plug any HDD before installing windows, install with just the DVD+SSD, it will save you some headaches).
