So, it's been quite some time since I've overclocked a system, and I'd like to give it a go for the new one I've just built. Things have changed so much that I'm completely lost.

I have a Gigabyte GA-X58-UD3R motherboard, Core i7 920 processor, and OCZ XMP Ready Series 6GB DDR3 1600. Also a BFG Nvidia 285. I'm cooling my i7 with a Scythe Mugen 2 and my stock idle temps seem to be about 36C.

Going into the BIOS options, it's blown my mind with complexity. Could anyone help me get this thing faster, please? :)

do some searching.. there are tons of threads with information.. there is also a video made by kyle..

(this below statement is not directed specificly at you zenon but at everyone in general)
i still cant figure out why we need 50 million threads on overclocking the i7? is the search function in the forum that hard to use?

maybe its time some one starts a sticky just for the i7 overclocking like there was for the C2D/C2Q processors? just an idea.. would be nice if some one that knows their stuff about the i7 take up the challenge of doing this..

I understand what sirmonkey is saying about searching. The search bar is there for a reason...but.... I also understand zenon. He feels new to this due to the fact its been a while and the layout of the bios. I am new to overclocking too and I've been researching for the past week. All I found was links leading me to ppl overclocking with the ASUS motherboard or to ppl that[H]ard overclocked. I want to overclock mine just alittle, probably to 3.2 on air. As a noob, it would be nice to have someone walk you through, especially if it is someone with the same setup. Again I agree, an sticky on how to overclock a i7 would be nice....

btw, Zenon, I remember stumbling on a PDF file on overclocking the 920 on a EX58 EXTREME motherboard if you want extreme overclocking to like 4GHZ. If i remembered correctly, it was written by GIGABYTE...

It would probably help if you tell ppl how high you want to overclock so that people that have done so can help you. GL =D
